Team 3 Shop Day

Today was Shop Day. Thank you Team 3 and your families for putting on this much anticipated event. Team One children have fond memories of participating in their shop days a few years ago. I think over $800 was raised, a huge effort! Big buddies, you were great at helping your little buddies with their purchases.

Periodic Table of Rock

Today some of the Year 8 students were learning about the periodic table in their science lesson at Linwood College. This is a video that Mr Pollock showed the class.

Cantamath 2011

Congratulations to both teams that competed in the Cantamath competition. What incredibly hard questions. I have been impressed with your efforts in training and on the event day! I'll post some of the questions when I get a copy of them ... watch this space.

Yr 8 Science at Linwood College

Today one of the groups looked at chemical change, they enjoyed watching potassium iodine turn yellow in a test tube and putting magnesium in the bunsen burner, particularly when it sparked!

Canterbury Rugby Players visit Team One

We were lucky to have three Canterbury ITM rugby players come and visit us today. Nasi, Joel and Patrick came and talked to us about their typical training day and answered lots of our questions. Nasi said that we need to keep working hard to achieve our goals and Joel said we needed to be able to bounce back from setbacks and keep on striving. Thanks for taking the time out to visit us:)

Storyteller comes to Redcliffs

Today we had two storytellers perform for us from the Christchurch Arts Festival. We heard some entertaining stories with so many creative voices. A fantastic afternoon:) Thanks to the schools who have donated some money to us so that we can have some excitement following the earthquakes.

Ski Trip Postponed

Unfortunately we have had to postpone our ski trip to Mt Hutt. Mr Ryan will investigate a new date for us. There should be lots of snow when we do get there:) Enjoy the snowball fights at home:)

Champion Sumner Makos

Well done to the Sumner Makos who won their final against CBHS! They were again the underdogs having been beaten by the opposition during the round robin but they showed that never give up attitude to win 15 - 7! Fanatastic effort.

Redcliffs in Snow

This photo shows Redcliffs with a gentle layer of snow from the recent snowfall in our school holidays. Thanks Ruth for the photo, it looks so peaceful.

Doodle 4 Google

Some ideas for our Doodle 4 Google entries. Remember the theme is ... My Wish for New Zealand ...

Good Luck

Sumner Makos

Well done to the Sumner Makos (Under 13 Rugby Team) on their semi final win over STAC. What a game. They held out St Andrews who were attacking their line for the last ten minutes for a 15 - 14 win and a place in the final. Amazing commitment and teamwork! Best game I've seen for a long time:)
Good Luck for the final!

Manual @ Philipstown

The start of the term saw us all begin new areas of technology study at Phillipstown School. When I wondered around the classes I was extremely impressed with everybody's focus. I look forward to seeing (and tasting) the products of your hard work. Well Done!
