Tutorials @ Your Place?

If the children can't come to school, then the school will come to the children.

Hi Everyone,

The events of Monday have added extra stress, anxiety and frustration to our lives. I have spoken to a few parents and while people are trying to keep positive there is an increased sense of despair this time around. I think most of us have power, however a number are waiting patiently for water facilities to return. The school is in this situation too. The school website is the best place to keep up to date with how the re-opening is progressing.

Teachers are very keen to keep some learning programmes continuing. Obviously we can't use the school but we are hoping to use peoples lounges, dining rooms or kitchens for small group tutorials. This would be supplemented with guided online learning activities through our blog http://teamoneredcliffs.blogspot.com and our wiki http://teamoneredcliffs.wikispaces.com .I have trialled this concept with a few groups and it seems to be working well. They are usually for an hour and predominately focus on Maths skills. The children have enjoyed catching up with one another and having something to focus on. (Well that's what the parents tell me anyway)

A few parents have also offered to help take some group activities. We could help support each other by organising or supervising small groups during the day.

How this might work?

If you can reply to this email, we will co-ordinate a tutorial roster over the weekend and then communicate this with you. We need to know the following information

Is your child 'interested' in attending a small group tutorial?

Are you able/willing to have a small group of children (between 6-10) in your lounge/dining room/kitchen for an hour or so?

Are you interested in hosting a small group? Do you have anything specific in mind (sport/drama/cooking ...)? Would you be willing to have your phone number communicated to parents so they can contact you about this activity?

Hope you are all safe and well. We are thinking of you all.
